Contract Research
more info
The sustainable management of Australia's natural resources (our land, water, marine and biological systems) is vital to ensure our ongoing social, economic and environmental wellbeing. The management of these natural resources calls for a united effort between governments, landholders, industry and the public. FSA Consulting’s strong contacts within the NRM community means that any NRM research we undertake is applied and relevant. FSA Consulting works closely with other NRM organisations so that the best outcome is achieved for the client.

Soil Survey and Sampling
more info
The majority of existing soil data is collected at a regional scale, which means it does not provide sufficient information for farm scale planning and management. To provide a better understanding of the soil resource, more detailed assessment is essential as the soil physical and chemical properties play a major role in the success of any agricultural system. FSA Consulting has experienced and qualified soil surveyors to undertake site specific soil assessments and/or sampling.

Training
more info
FSA Consulting’s NRM Training Course - “Managing my Natural Resources” can help you:
1. know the risk of salinity developing on your property 2. know the vegetation clearing rules for your property 3. know how a flood might affect your property today 4. know how to use water more efficiently on your property 5. identify trees, weeds, pests and wildlife on your property 6. know if your enterprises comply with relevant industry codes of practice 7. obtain up-to-date copies of every relevant Government license

GQAL Assessment
more info
Good quality agricultural land (GQAL) is a finite resource and The Queensland State Planning Policy (SPP) 1/92 Development and Conservation of Good Quality Agricultural Land is used to protect this land from development. However, many of the GQAL maps were prepared using regional scale soil information, which means the information does not provide sufficient detail at the property scale. To provide a better understanding of the actual GQAL status, more detailed assessment is an essential part of any development.
FSA Consulting has experienced and qualified soil surveyors to undertake site specific soil and GQAL assessments.

Property Map of Assessable Vegetation (PMAV)
more info
PMAVs are property scale maps that are certified by the Department of Natural Resources and Water (NRW). A PMAV is like a regional ecosystem map. It shows the location, boundaries and status of vegetation (endangered, of-concern etc.), but at a property scale. Where a PMAV is approved, it replaces the regional ecosystem (RE) mapping for determining, in part, whether clearing is permitted.
The professional team at FSA Consulting can provide expert advice and assist or prepare a PMAV for your property.

IDMP
more info
The Department of Primary Industries (DPI) administers Irrigation and Drainage Management Plans (IDMP) under the Water Management Act 2000 for irrigated properties in New South Wales. DPI will assess a water transfer before issuing a water use license. Part of this assessment includes irrigation managers being able to show how their irrigation management practices minimise environmental impacts. By preparing an IDMP, this can demonstrate the irrigators’ technology and management practices and identify areas for future improvement.
The professional team at FSA Consulting can provide expert advice on IDMP preparation and irrigation best management practice. IDMP services we can provide include:

EM Soil Surveying and Sampling
more info
Electromagnetic (EM) soil surveying has been used for many years to map soil salinity. The technology can also be used to map soil texture as well as the distribution of soil nutrients and soil moisture.
FSA Consulting are able to provide EM surveying (EM38 or EM31) and mapping services for intensive livestock, irrigation and broad-acre agriculture. This is the perfect tool to complement other precision agriculture technology.
EM38 soil surveying can be used to assess and rectify ‘problem’ effluent reuse areas and improve manure management. The EM map can be used to create nutrient and salt distribution maps with a high degree of accuracy. In an irrigation context, an EM map can help to identify potential high seepage areas in storages and distribution networks. This can assist targeted soil investigations and remediation work to improve the efficiency of irrigation systems.
